Slathering across those freezing wastes. His stomach contorts. A slow implosion as the vacuum in his gut widens. His body eats itself away. His vision is blurred. Head pounding. Whole person shaking like a wet leaf in a storm. He hasn't seen anyone for weeks.
When he does, their plump muscles look flush with oil, salt, and iron.
