They say wishes are granted at the Sounding Chamber. Few have seen it. None have dared enter. The journey there is long and dangerous. Not just the wild tangle of nature, reclaiming its ancestral grounds across the abandoned industrial landscape, but the physical anomalies that surround the place, that distort time and space in ways incomprehensible to us.
For those that make it, their exhaustion often gives them pause before the small doorway to the room. After all, with all the power of a wish lying before them, they best think carefully about what they want. It is then, I think, that it becomes apparent that the Sounding Chamber only grants the innermost, innate wish. I think the fear of that coming true is enough to turn most away.
Most, but not all.
Those that return are often transformed. They see now, that what they desired is not always what they needed.
