In times past, no one would have listened to him because he is always stark bollock naked. Now people only listen to him because he’s stark bollock naked.
As with most popular philosophers most of what he says has been said before, he’s just found a more appealing way to say it. Largely his ideas focus on the threat of change, thinly disguising his personal moral panic about anything vaguely progressive. At odds with his own radical appearance, his politics are rather mild when they’re stripped down to their barest parts. But this is what fuels the image of him as a revolution and inspires in his followers that usual kind of fanaticism we’ve grown so used to.
A cult of personality for sure. It's sad to see people so easily convinced of an obvious con. Sad but expected. People want assurances that it's not just them. That others share in their fears and desires. Its only natural.
The conventions he holds are sweaty affairs. Most half-commit to the nakedness. The manta they hang on to associates nudity with “truth.” Kind of obvious, but props to him for being the first to capitalize on it.
Naked right-of-centres, fussing over the gay and trans folk of the world. Who’d have thunk it?
