‘I have lost all ability to say what is right or wrong,’ the great philosopher announced to a hushed crowd. That is all he said before he turned and left, leaving them in a state of chaos. What does he mean? How can he not know what’s right or wrong, when he has always known before?
In his death poem he notes; ‘I never knew, instead I only imagined I could only know, and nothing else.’
