'Why would they build this?'
We stand on the pinnacle of the shard. A sharp tower of glass that begins on the surface of the world and ends in the upper stratosphere. How its fragile walls withstand the crushing forces of wind and gravity is only half understood by our engineers. Whoever - or whatever - made this has a greater understanding of physics than we do, and we have faster than light travel. Either that, or they're damn lucky.
But its purpose isn't clear. It seems to have no functional value. It's just glass. And if it is an artistic statement, then to our human minds only the scale is impressive. The design is rudimentary at best.
'I think they made it because they could. Only creatures who have lived with scarcity question the purpose of creation. Anyone who can do this faces no such hardship.'
