We get the machines to open up the cosmos for our pleasure. Two orbs the size of moons take adjacent points of space and stretch them out like putty between two pins.
We can see all the dazzling splendor of the universe in microcosm. A tapestry of light and gravity that we view from our orbiting space yachts.
The process leaves an irreparable gash in reality. A dangerous well of cosmic forces that will rip apart anything that goes near it and send the pieces to somewhere.
It serves no purpose beyond our entertainment. But what joy, to see the universe on display. And what a convenient way to see it, without having to go anywhere far.
