The soldier sits with his back to half a broken church. His rifle is set to the side of him and he brings a steel mug of tea to his lips.
In the sky above, one of their ships twists slowly between the clouds. Refractions of light turn through the spectrum. It is neither here nor not here.
That's the problem with this enemy. They can become real at any moment. Otherwise they just float, visible but untouchable. The soldier wonders if they watch him as he watches them.
Well they can manifest and continue this war any time they like, so long as it isn't during tea time.
