Through the mirror they watch him. He sits staring back at his reflection. Almost through it. Almost at them.
A blank room. A blank table. Florescent lights.
'He's fully split,' Sara says, holding up the report. 'Two souls, equally divided. It's exceptionally rare.'
Bill gazes at the man. He looks scared. As well he might be. He's still covered in the drying blood they couldn't scrub off.
'In our world he's Michael Matthews,' Sara continues. 'Car salesman. Family of four. No priors.'
'And the other side of him?' says Bill.
Sara's eyes shift. 'God knows who he is on the other side. But he came through strong enough to do that.'
She nods to the photos in the evidence folder. Bill can't look at them any longer without his stomach churning.
How long will they have Michael Matthews in that room for? Is he even there now? Bill isn't sure he wants to find out.
