Sparkles in the desert wind. Tiny blades of silicon. An empire once ruled this place. Now there is only desolation.
Their own hubris comes to roost. Inadequate leaders. Apathetic populus. Symptoms of a deeper sickness. A lack of fear.
Fear of forces beyond their knowing or control. Fear of a nature they thought conquered. Fear of the consequences of their own actions.
They lacked for fear and now there is none. Just the hush of silicon and sand. The echoes of a future that never was.
