The city boxes in the rich greyness of the sky and the rain falls from on high. A yellow cab runs through a puddle and splashes the sidewalk. Her first tentative steps into the square bring her into sight of the electric billboards and their brash adverts. The people swarm. In the chaos the sense of possibility is so heavy on the air she can taste it. Anything can happen. She can stay here or go to LA or DC or wherever she wants. Yesterday she was a prisoner in her own life. But today isn’t about yesterday. Today is about tomorrow.
