Sun's dyin. Rangers from coast to coast pass on through deserts dusted with frost under a red star. Metal in their guns gums up so bad most of the time they can't shoot. And that makes hunting all the harder, given how scarce animals are these days.
They go from town to town bringing what they can. Lot of the wood is soaked through with damp so they got to dry it out on the fires they got. That means not letting any fire go out, which ain't easy in this cold.
Sometimes they bring in food. No berries or fruits. Just the occasional roots if they find them. Most common of all is meat. They bring it back butchered and ready to cook. No one asks where it's from. Like I said, animals are scarce.
