It draws closer, day by day. A red speck in the sky, on a collision course with earth. People don’t scramble because there’s nowhere to scramble to, besides, most people don’t believe it’ll ever hit us or think someone or something will intervene to save us all. Nothing will save us. I know this. I can’t panic though, because I’ve understood inevitability for a long time. I’ve come to appreciate that the life flashing before us is the only one and it should be appreciated as such. Waiting for the end is wasteful. There’s so much to enjoy, including the beauty of the end, as it arcs through the night, blotting out stars as it goes.
