Marooned on the island, the group was well supplied with packaged goods and tents from the sunken ship.
Nonetheless, one of them, Karina, took it upon herself to fish every dawn and every dusk. While the others burned through the alcohol supply and lounged in the sun, Karina scoured the island looking for natural sources of food and materials. She built her own shelter, and when asked why, told the group that tents could break, and that a natural shelter was easily fixed. And when they asked why she fished so much, when they had so many packaged meals, she simply replied that they would not last forever.
The others thought Karina was strange, but that was about as much thought as they gave the matter. They allowed her to carry on in peace.
It was while Karina was fishing that she slipped and dashed her head on a rock. That didn't kill her, but rolling over into the shallow water and drowning did. If someone had been there, they might have simply flipped her over.
The others were sad to find Karina dead. The buried her at sea. Then they tried to eat one of the fish she'd caught in her honour, but didn't know how to prepare it.
So the fish rotted, Karina's shelter collapsed, and the others carried on like before.
