They blare it from airships prowling above the city.
Life Is Good, screams the vox.
If it’s so good, they wouldn’t have to say it, would they? No. Life isn’t good. Not down here.
But they have to try something. The world is so dire people are killing themselves in droves. It’s cutting into productivity. The dwindling workforce is scaring shareholders.
With a drop of compassion, they could make things better for us all.
We could make things better too. A moment of incredible violence. But there’s not enough of us with the willpower. Or so we keep telling ourselves.
But it is worth it all, this suffering. For someone, somewhere, life is good.
