As I gaze upon this land for the last time, I see the dappled light bouncing from the sea onto the leaves of the trees, and I think little of what there is here, and only what lies ahead. Not because I wish to forget or do not care, but because I am left with a pleasant view of this place, and to gaze too long at a painting is to see its flaws. So I turn and don’t look back.
