The sombre tones drool from speakers around the city, altering the mood of the citizens. It brings them low. Reminds them of their sin. Allows, at no point of the day, for a laugh to sound anything more than like the smash of porcelain, or a hug to feel like anything more than a cold, clinging grasp. Into this misery the people pour all other feelings and life is made simple; there is no choice.
