Steam rose off his arms as he sat up to his chest in the pool. The air was -3° but the spring waters kept him warm enough. It was the vast contrast between the two states that did the healing, he supposed. To be chilled and warmed at the same time, to have one’s body and spirit stretched between extremes, allowing all the tensions to be pulled slack.
At least that was what he imagined, and perhaps what the mind saw was half the benefit, if not the whole.
