The Emperor was so convinced of his genius works that he had them printed in vast volumes and stored in a great library built just to contain them.
Soon the Emperor grew paranoid that the scholars working in the library would steal his great ideas so he had their eyes put out. The Empire fell soon thereafter because there was no one to run the legislature.
And the great works? No one recalls what they were, because no one read them.
