Angels guard the vault of heaven, that stretches over the sky and bars us from the greater universe. Flying so high, so fast, we see glimpses of the darkness beyond that shimmering veil, jets screaming and sensors spinning so close to the heavenly bodies, radios crackle with incomprehensible chants, and cutting through the chatter is the order to fly lower, slower.
Time and time again it becomes too much for me, as my blood thins and darkness clouds the edge of my vision, so I must pull away. But each time this jet gets closer. One day I will pierce that veil, see what the angels fear us to see, beyond the kingdom of God, into realms ungoverned by heaven.
