They abandoned us in their big ships with their whole bodies. Left us on a planet rotted by their greed. The left us to die in a toxic swill of our own making.
When they returned generations later, they found a planet mutated into something else. They thought us long dead. But we had merely changed. We shed our whole bodies and became something else. Something they could not see with their meat eyes.
We were waiting for them on the wind. Hungry neurons waiting to rip apart their atoms. We watched. We waited. We pounced. Gorged. Feasted.
