Outwardly he is calm. He is fighting a storm on the inside, teetering on the brink of falling into a maelstrom. The worst thing is, it's all mundane. Getting a inbetween job. Passing a driving test. Starting a career. All weighing on him. Looming ahead of him, like monsters straddling a road at night. How do you tackle all that at once?
A rational mind knows these are all small things, in the great scale of the universe. No one says at your funeral, 'Oh his skirting boards looked a bit dusty.' No one but the little gremlin in your head cares about that small stuff, or even the bigger life stuff really. People just want to be happy. He just wants to be happy. That's a lot easier when you don't sweat the small stuff.
